What is Google Home?
Google Home is a smart home platform that helps you control and automate your connected devices. You can manage everything from your phone, tablet, or smart display, or simply use your voice by saying, "Hey Google." With Google Home, you can control your lights, cameras, and thermostats, set up custom routines to automate tasks, and monitor your home with helpful alerts.
How to connect Google Home to IFTTT?
To get started creating Applets using Google Home and IFTTT, you'll first need to connect to the IFTTT Google Assistant service. To do so, you can follow these steps:
- Download the Google Home app on iOS or Android

What can you automate with Google Home and IFTTT?
The Google Assistant service on IFTTT supports the Activate scene trigger that lets you use a custom voice command to run an Applet. You can set your preferred command in the Scene name field when configuring the Applet's trigger. Once the Applet is enabled, simply say, "Hey Google, activate [Scene name]" to run your Applet.
This trigger can be paired with any action on IFTTT. Some popular examples include using your Google Assistant to close your MyQ Garage door or using a voice command to VOIP call your phone to find it if you've misplaced it.
If you'd prefer not to include the word "activate" in the command to your Google Assistant that is possible to do using Google Routines. Click here for a guide on How to Use Routines in Google Assistant V2 Without Saying 'Activate'.
