Background
LinkedIn is a professional networking platform that helps you share updates, promote content, and stay connected with colleagues and communities. Many people use LinkedIn to share announcements, articles, and links related to their work or business.
When you connect LinkedIn to IFTTT you can automate posting to your LinkedIn profile using activity from other apps and services. This makes it easy to keep your profile up to date without posting manually each time.
How to connect LinkedIn to IFTTT
To start creating Linkedin automations using IFTTT, you will first need to connect your LinkedIn account.
Sign into your IFTTT account
Visit ifttt.com/linkedin
Click Connect
Follow the on-screen prompts to authorize IFTTT
Once connected, you can start creating or enabling Applets that use the LinkedIn service's Actions.
What can you automate with LinkedIn and IFTTT?
The LinkedIn service on IFTTT supports several actions that let you share content directly to your LinkedIn profile:
Share an update: This action will share a text update on your LinkedIn profile.
Share a link: This action will share a link on your LinkedIn profile.
Share an update with image: This action will share an update with an image on your LinkedIn profile.
Share an update with video: This action will share an update with a video on your LinkedIn profile.
These actions can be paired with many different triggers on IFTTT. Popular examples include:
Sharing new Instagram photos to LinkedIn when you post on Instagram
Posting new WordPress blog updates to LinkedIn as link posts
Does the LinkedIn service support Triggers?
At this time, the LinkedIn service only supports Actions, meaning it can be used as the Then That portion of an Applet. It does not support Triggers, so it cannot be used as the If This portion of an Applet.
Can I post to a LinkedIn Company Page?
At this time, the LinkedIn service on IFTTT works only with personal LinkedIn profiles. Company Pages cannot be connected or used in an Applet.
