Background:
Duplicating an Applet is a simple way to make a copy of an existing setup so you can reuse it or make changes without starting over. It’s especially helpful if you want to create a similar Applet with a few adjustments, test a new version, or build on something you already have enabled. This guide will walk through how to duplicate an Applet and start customizing your copy right away..
Duplicating a DIY Applet
If you'd like to duplicate a DIY Applet that you've created you can follow these steps. Please note, the steps are only available on ifttt.com and are not currently supported on the IFTTT mobile apps:
Open a web browser and go to https://ifttt.com/p/username/applets/private.
-
Click on the Applet you'd like to copy
When viewing the Applet, click Copy
- The Applet composer will open, scroll to the bottom and update your Applet's title as well as make any other needed changes then press Save
- Return to ifttt.com/my_applets, the duplicated Applet will appear there
- Click connect on your Applet to enable it and configure the field settings
Duplicating a published Applet
If you've enabled a published Applet and would like to enable another version you can follow these steps. Published Applets can only be enabled once, so you'll first need to convert it to a personal Applet. These steps can be done on either ifttt.com or the IFTTT mobile apps:
- Go to your My Applets page, then select the Applet
- Press settings in the top right
-
Press the plug sign below your Applet's Action(s)
-
A prompt will appear, select the option to convert the Applet to your own
- Make any desired changes then save your Applet
- Alternatively, if you don't need to make changes you can press Back, then save
- You can return to the original version of the published Applet and enable it again
