How to Use the InOut WhatsApp IFTTT Service

The InOut.bot service offers a straightforward way to send and receive WhatsApp messages through IFTTT, enabling you to create automations. Here's a step-by-step guide to get you started:​

Receiving WhatsApp Messages in IFTTT

1. Create a New Applet: Log in to your IFTTT account and click on "Create" to start a new Applet.​

2. Set the Trigger ("If This"):

   • Click on "+ Add" under the "If This" section.

   • Search for and select the InOut WA service.

   • Choose either one of the triggers:

     • You sent a specific WhatsApp message to InOut - This trigger will fire when you send a message to the InOut.bot's WhatsApp number that contains a specific word or phrase.

     • You sent any WhatsApp message - This trigger will fire when you send any message to the InOut.bot's WhatsApp number.

3. Authenticate Your WhatsApp Number:

   • If it's your first time using InOut.bot with IFTTT, you'll need to authenticate your WhatsApp number.

   • Follow the authentication instructions:

     • Connect InOut.bot to your IFTTT account.

     • Enter your phone number.

     • You'll receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on WhatsApp.

     • Enter the OTP to complete the authentication.

4. Define the Trigger Message:

   • Specify the exact text message that will trigger the Applet (e.g., "Turn on lights").

   • Click "Create trigger" to proceed.​

5. Complete the Applet:

   • Add the desired action under the "Then That" section to define what should happen when the trigger message is received.

   • Finalize and activate your Applet.​

Now, whenever you send the specified message to the InOut.bot WhatsApp number (+1 234 3322110), your IFTTT Applet will execute the specified action.

Sending WhatsApp Messages from IFTTT

1. Create a New Applet: Log in to your IFTTT account and click on "Create" to start a new Applet.​

2. Set the Trigger ("If This"):

   • Choose the service and trigger that will initiate the action (e.g., a new event in Google Calendar).​

3. Define the Action ("Then That"):

   • Click on "+ Add" under the "Then That" section.

   • Search for and select the InOut WA service.

   • Choose the send me a message action.​

4. Authenticate Your WhatsApp Number:

   • If you haven't already authenticated your number, follow the authentication instructions.​

5. Compose the Message:

   • Enter the text message you want to send to your WhatsApp number.

   • Click "Create action". 

   • Finalize and activate your Applet by hitting 'Save'.

With this setup, whenever the defined trigger occurs, you'll receive a WhatsApp message from the InOut.bot bot containing your specified text.

Key Reminders When Using the InOut.bot Service

Here are a few important points to remember before using the InOut.bot:

• IFTTT connects to InOut.bot, not WhatsApp directly. That means the automation happens through InOut.bot’s platform. 

• Your Applets will only work with messages to and from InOut.bot. You won’t be able to use this to text your other WhatsApp users directly through IFTTT. All messages must go through the InOut.bot number.
