Note: This article is for devices running Android 8.0 and above specifically. This will address how to make Applets faster.
If you use the Android WiFi, Location, or Battery triggers, it's possible that they can be delayed by up to 15 minutes or more after you update to Android 8.0.
However, there is a setting in the app you can turn on to avoid this delay. It will not affect the battery life of your device. It's also possible that enabling this setting will improve Applet speeds for other services, such as the location service.
Here's how to enable the setting in the app:
- Tap your profile icon on the top right of the screen
- Select Sync options
- Toggle on 'Run Location, Android Battery and WiFi connections faster'
When this setting is enabled, you will see a persistent notification on your device's status bar to let you know it is working.
If you want to know more about this change, you can check out this post on the Android Developer's website that gives additional background information for why we had to add this new setting to the IFTTT app.
For more information about why we require location permissions even if your applet may not be using a location-based trigger, please check out our article Why does the IFTTT Android app require always-on location permissions?
Lastly, both Pro and Pro+ offer faster runtimes!
