Check to see if it's already there
There's millions of Applets on IFTTT, perhaps there's already one that does what you need! Do a search on what you're looking for, you may just find it.
If you've already got a couple services in mind you'd like to connect together, here's a handy trick to find the most popular Applets.
- Find the URL of both of the services on IFTTT you'd like to use. We'll use Google Assistant and LIFX as examples here.
- Go to ifttt.com/connect/[service_1_url]/[service_2_url]
- In this example, that would look like: ifttt.com/connect/google_assistant/lifx
- If there are enough popular Applets connecting those services together, you'll see a page that looks like this:
Make your own If This Then That Applet
Everyone uses IFTTT differently so there's a chance you may not have found a pre-existing Applet that does what you want. Thankfully you can create your own!
Make an Applet on the IFTTT Platform
With the IFTTT Platform, you can do more than just If This Then That. The Platform enables you to build Applets using multiple actions, e.g. a new post from Instagram can post on Twitter as a native photo, and be added to a Pinterest board. These Applets can be published even if you don't have a paid service on IFTTT.
Ask the community
There are excellent resources full of IFTTT experts on Reddit and Hackster.io. We encourage users to lean on those communities for help if you can't find a specific Applet configuration you're seeking, or if you need one custom built.
